Stated Meetings

Presbyterian Church (USA)

Wendy's Picket

Friday, November 11th at 5pm.

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers  is a group of farmworkers that has been organizing in their community since 1993 and in recent years has partnered with the PCUSA on issues of Fair Food. Today, through a powerful alliance with consumers, people of faith, and students across the country, CIW has been able to bring 14 multibillion dollar tomato buyers and 90% of Florida's tomato growers to commit to higher wages for farmworkers and to putting an end to wage theft, sexual harassment, and abuses that, in the most extreme cases, included forced labor in the fields.

For the week of Nov. 8, the CIW will be in Cleveland to amplify the national boycott of Wendy’s.  Unfortunately, Wendy’s is the only major fast food company that still refuses to respect farmworkers' human rights and sign an agreement with the CIW.  Join the CIW, fellow Presbyterians, and other concerned citizens for a peaceful on November 11.  Details can be found here.
