Lakewood Presbyterian Church is seeking an Organist. The position is part-time. Major duties include preparing for and performing music during regularly scheduled services, weddings and funerals, as well as playing for rehearsals of choirs and soloists. The organist works closely with the Pastor/Head of Staff, the Worship and Music Ministry and ensemble directors. Strong keyboard and accompanying skills are mandatory. The church has a rich and varied musical program. Instruments at LPC include the Holtkamp pipe organ, a Ruggles tracker organ, two Steinway pianos. A harpsichord and more. The salary range is $15,000-$18,000, commensurate with ability and experience. Two additional positions, Bell Choir Director and Chapel Choir Director (Children/Youth) are also available. The salary range for the three positions together is $18,000-$24,000.

Position Description: Prepare 5 songs (Hillsong, Chris Tomlin, Integrity, Vineyard, etc.), and coordinate with other musicians (keyboardist, drummer, violinist, bass and/or acoustic guitar). Set up at 9:45 AM (sound system, instruments, and seating). Lead rehearsal at 10 am.  Lead praise during worship at 11 am. Clean up at 12:15 pm. Lead praise during special worship (Good Friday & Christmas Eve). Meet with the pastor once a month.
Desired Qualifications: Exhibit strong faith in Christ, maturity, humility, and leadership/communication skill. Solid musical background with strong voice, instrumental skill (guitar and/or keyboard), and musical versatility (comfortable with a wide range of musical genres). Familiarity with sound system and multimedia. Commitment to the congregation (be a part of the church body).
Compensation: Remunerated per worship based on qualification.

Faith Formation Coordinator – part time (15 – 20 hours)

Lakewood Presbyterian, a Cleveland Westside suburban church, is looking for a Faith Formation Coordinator to staff and facilitate the Faith Formation network for all ages with the guiding of the Holy Spirit.  In collaboration with lay leadership and with prayer, the FF Coordinator will set Faith Formation goals, design networks and programs to implement goals, staff networks with capable laypersons and ensure implementation.  They will continuously evaluate and improve LPC Faith Formation networks and ministries. 
Qualifications:

 

  • Mature Faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Christian Education or an education related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a Church Educator. Certification considered a plus.
  • Continuing Education in Faith Formation.
  • Knowledge of and active use of a variety of social media.
  • Ability to create and build Faith Formation networks on the web - especially through the LPC website.
  • Energetic with excellent organization skills.
  • Be a collaborator, oriented toward getting people to work together, sharing wins and successes, fostering open dialogue, creating a strong sense of belonging among those with whom this person works.
